Bubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble

Another post courtesy of Paisley. After our adventures through the Black Hills we continued west to Yellowstone National Park with Matt, Anna and, Annika. It was great. We swam in Lake Yellowstone, (which for the record is still cold for all its thermal features) 714 and planned on going to Old Faithful until we saw All. The. People. Instead we settled in to a nice place in a quiet campground and spent a peaceful evening with friends. The next day was even better. We got up in the morning for an invigorating hike to the cave above our site. 726 The rest of the day was spent driving back in to Yellowstone to explore some of the most exciting geological features in the park at the Norris Geyser Basin which is chalk full of geysers, steam vents, and other volcanic coolness. There were a lot fewer people here than at Old Faithful and it had to have been at least as cool as Old Faithful if not even cooler.

  • LOL – tell Olivia I’m with her – we went to Yellowstone when I was about her age, and I was not enthusiastic… And Old Faithful is not that impressive…. Of course, my two older brothers spent all our time looking a sulfur pits and so on threatening to push me in, and all our campground time telling me that grizzly bears really liked little girls! (There had been grizzlies sighted near our campsite…)
