Hey Guys! So this is Pais and today is the 26th just for keeping track. We had a great day. Yesterday we arrived at the Liard Hot Springs Campground. Today we decided to stay here another night for a great relaxing day. Dad decided not to join us. After our soak in the hot spring yesterday, he got unbelievably sick. This is probably because he was the only one of us to attempt to get close to the source of the hot spring. Different guidebooks say the temperature at the spring’s source is somewhere around 126 degrees! Since the spring continues downward for a time you can regulate how hot you want to be by moving either closer to or farther away from the source. So, this morning, Dad napped instead of joining us in our liquid playtime. Mom, O, and I were little, hot-water fishes in the meantime and stayed at it until it was high time for a midday feeding. O’Day quickly made a friend (like the little social butterfly we all know she is) and spent the whole time playing with her. I ended up bringing my coloring book to the pool to have something to do while dangling my feet in. (I would have brought my book but I only brough digital books on this trip to save space.) Dad did come with us for an evening splash just now,but stayed far away from the source of the spring.
It’s a really fun way to relax from being on the road. If anyone is planning on driving up to visit us in Alaska I sincerely recommend at least staying one night at Liard Hot Springs.

Also the rangers are working on conditioning nearby bears to stay away from the springs so they had to block off one of the walking paths.
P.S. Adorable picture of O’Day in her pajamas after getting out of the water.
I enjoy the phrase “problem bear”. It implies a slight impishness or lack of training in one particular bear as opposed to other, more polite bears. Like, oh no, you can’t come down here, the other bears are fine but Timmy here has been having some biting problems as of late. Also, the hot springs look really really quite lovely and I’m mildly jealous
Hey, guys. I’ve been following along and loving every minute of it. I have to interject here, though, Pais. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t your father the one who WENT TO MEDICAL SCHOOL? LOL.
Seems like he’d know better is all I’m saying…..
