Welcome to our Lovrich Family blog, wherein we share our adventures with you, our friends and family, on our move from Hillsborough, NC to Anchorage, AK. The plan is for each of us to take turns sharing with you what we are experiencing along the way.
Today is Memorial Day, May 25, 2015 and I (Kim, the least technologically savvy of the four of us) have actually started a blog, by myself, without any help from the 9 year old or the 16 year old. Woohoo!!! I’m just a little bit proud of myself. 🙂 I think that means I get to start things off…
A tractor trailer will be delivered by U-Pack Moving on June 9 and we will drive away from the house we’ve loved so much here in North Carolina on June 12. The plan is for us to do our own packing and loading of the trailer and then to pay somebody else to drive our stuff to Anchorage, while we drive ourselves in a yet-to-be-purchased Class A RV.
Yep, you read that right: just in case we aren’t crazy enough for moving to Alaska, we are also driving 4,345 miles from Hillsborough, NC to Anchorage, AK with stops along the way to see friends and family in an RV that will likely be about 15 years old. I tell you this because I think it’s important to properly set the stage for you with regards to the immense potential for “adventure” along the way. 🙂 But you see, according to Rob in his feverishly persuasive speech, “It’s going to be the trip of a lifetime! A one-time opportunity to create some amazing memories as a family, while both girls are still living with us. (Read: and don’t have a choice about whether or not this is really what they’d like to do.) And, how many people get the opportunity to drive all the way across the country up to Alaska?”
I think he must have been preparing this speech for days in advance of presenting the idea to me. And I… I fell for it. It’s kind of hard to refute those things.
The purpose behind this is that many Kenpo trainers were qualified straight under the said popular martial spe viagra uk onlinet. We’ve been looking at them online for months and reading and asking questions of friends who have owned them. We’ve test driven four of them and we have appointments to see a couple more tomorrow. Our fingers are crossed that we find something soon as there will inevitably be something that we need or want to do to it before we take off in it towards an address yet to be determined…
There is so much to share with you, but I have to keep you interested in checking back in. Tomorrow it will be another of us who gives you an update. We will try to post as often as we can.
Peace and Love to You All
and
To All We Remember Today!
Good luck to you all. I can’t wait to hear about your trip although am very sad to see the Lovrich family leave the Tar Heel State. Don’t worry, I will send care packages. Let me know what they should contain. It’ll be hard to ship a Merritt’s BLT but I can definitely send some RagApple Lassie Chardonay!
We are all going to miss you and your family and the Tar Heel State very much, but there’s no saying we won’t return some day. I intend to find out how to ship some fresh salmon your way. I saw evidence in the stores and in the airport that they do it all the time, so we can trade – RagApple Lassie for fresh salmon. Yay!!! Can’t wait for visitors in AK too….
We are so sorry to see you go, but I know you’ll have a blast! Paisley is always saying “We are adventurous people!” And I suspect Rob would be hard to say no to when he’s fired up about a plan…
I am loving this. Kimbo, you really did it! I’m inspired. Love Os dance pix and feel the pain Rob has dealt with on saying goodbye to his wheels!
Kim–We love this blog and how fun it will be to follow your adventures along the way! So very happy you are doing this. Wishing you good luck in the hunt for the RV. My brother and family love theirs.
Love, Kathy
Love and prayers on your new adventure. Wished we could have met one more time for lunch, but I know in my heart I will see you again some day. I will think of you every time I see a dragon fly or Cardinal pecking at my window trying to get my attention. You are a Blessing Kim! Thank you for sharing part of your life and journey with me. Love always, Lauran
Hello Sweet Lauran – Oh – I’m so glad you have this blog address. I would have truly loved to have lunch one more time, but I agree with you, I think we will some day!!! Our time together is not over!! Thank you for your incredible thoughtfulness as a friend. I’m grateful! I hope you are well and that school is going well. I think of you often and cannot wait to see what doors and windows open for you on this path of pediatric end of life care. You will be and ARE amazing and incredible blessing to the families you serve. Love you Dear Friend, Kim
We have really missed you at the house. I love the idea of your trip. If we were 20 years younger, we might try it. I hope we stay in touch and I wish you and your family the best of luck. You will do anywhere you go. Hugs Dody
Hi Sweet Dody! What a great surprise to see your comment. I’m so glad you have found our blog. I have been thinking about you and your move too. I hope you are settled in to your new space and feeling much more comfortable? We are enjoying the down time. The craziness has left us all a bit run down. We are hanging out in NC waiting for Rob to finish his last 24-hour call shift at UNC on Sunday and then it’s off to the NC coast for one last hurrah here before we begin our journey north to see family. Thank you for your kinds words. I look forward to keeping in touch. Sincerely, Kim
Thank you for letting us share your journey. Can’t wait to vicariously drive cross country with you!! Best of luck.
Wendy and Varry
Oh Wendy and Barry!!! I have reflected on our time together at Dame’s and Hillsborough BBQ many, many times in the last couple weeks and so enjoyed your company – we both did! Dame’s was definitely a place to experience. I will never forget the chicken and waffles. Wow!!! I’m so glad you are watching the blog. We will hopefully be posting a lot more frequently now that we are out of the house and school and with a lot more time on our hands. Now the challenge is internet connectivity. One of those things we took for granted at home that we are now figuring out on the road. Not always as easy as it seems. Can’t tell you how much it means to have gotten to know you and to have spent some time with you during our last couple months in NC. Cannot wait to see you in AK! Kim and Rob
