Hi Olivia here. On 8-1-15 we spent our whole day in the Oceans and Islands Visitors Center in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge in Homer. The name fools you because it is more of a museum than a visitor center. We went on a walk with Ranger Rebekah and we didn’t really walk a lot we just stood there and listened to her talk about bears for one hour! But the good thing is that we now know a lot more about bears! After the walk we saw two really pretty Sandhill cranes.

After that walk we explored the Visitor Center. There was a little exhibit called the explorers so Issie and I looked around and then left the exhibit. Later Issie wanted to go to a bird slide show so we went. The person presenting the slides was not a very good public speaker and he was telling everyone facts that we already learned from other exhibits in the center. For example, “There are two kinds of penguins in Alaska…” So it was pretty boring but okay.
